Denim Jackets – Keeping warm in Houston winters…
Isn’t it great that we get to wear jackets that are just as much for fashion as keeping warm? We don’t have to bundle up in thick winter coats to keep the Houston chill out – a nice, lightweight coat or jacket is more than enough most of the time.
All that to say: More cool weather equals more cool jackets! Our designer Angela Anderson has decorated more denim jackets with great trims and designs, along with a little something extra.
Here we have a fabulous jacket… and clutch purse! Angela chose to go with another floral motif and this time chose the hydrangea, with its beautiful soft shape and colors. Again, all you need is a little bit of time and creativity to make this set. The painting is optional, so as long as you have beautiful trims, you can beautify just about anything. The matching purse is a great idea to help use up any remaining trim scraps you might have on hand.
To create a similar look you’ll need: Eyelash Trim, Loop Fiber Trim, a beaded, fiber trim and some lovely faux gems to add a bit of extra sparkle.
Be sure to paint the jacket and let it dry before applying the trims to avoid the trims dragging through the paint.
Autumn chills? Appliqués and frills!
I love it when Autumn rolls in, especially in Houston since we finally start getting a break from the muggy summer heat. I can’t tell you how nice it is to step outside my front door in the morning and feel the cool fall air greet me! This is definitely my favorite time of the year! If only the cool would linger a bit longer during the rest of the day, but you take what breaks you can get, right?
Anyway, I’ve had to start digging my lightweight coats out from the depths of my closet, some of which I’ve had for years and are a bit drab now… even a denim jacket from high school was still in there. That got me to thinking about buying new fall clothes, but on a tight budget, why buy new clothes when the old ones just need a bit of sprucing up?
This great jacket was designed by Angela Anderson, one of our designers, and it definitely draws more attention than a plain denim jacket. Relatively easy to do, all you need is a Macey Flower Trim, Eyelash Trim, Feather Trim, fabric glue, and some paint!
A bit too flashy for you? Try using a more streamlined trim, like our Faux Leather Gimp Trim or add toggles and buttons instead of painting designs. You can add spice to any outfit for a little bit of money and time.
Speaking of spice, time to go bake some pumpkin spice bread… another thing I love about this time of year! Come to think of it, if I make too much bread I might have to go ahead and buy more clothes anyway… that fit!
Later all!
Tessa
